Camera Angles

In our group discussion this week we decided to incorporate the type of angles we would want as well as the type of camera effects we would like in our film to show diversity as well as our skills in which we have learned within our workshops. This discussion has also help Luke and I decide how we want the film to look due to the fact we are responsible for the creation of the storyboards.

Within our short film we will be using a variety of camera angles from long shots to close ups to ensure we can get across our story to the audience. We are planning to use close up for dramatic and intense moments as well as showing the audience important information that adds to the story line. On the other hand we will use wide-angle shots with a slow pan to help establish the scene in which our story is set as well as letting the audience know what and where the story is placed.

This image represents the 180 degree rule, which is when filming the camera should stay on one side within 180 degree line unless the camera shows the movement of that line I.e. the cross over of someone’s shoulder. We are planning to use this rule within our short film as when the couple is sitting down at the table as well as the transition into the basement scene.
